Japan-Sweden Joint Seminar on Gender Equality
For prevention and elimination of violence against women
- Based on the new cases of public and private sectors' efforts -
Sweden is known as a leading country of gender equality which has substantial child-care measures and is advanced in women's participation in politics and economic activities and men's participation in family life. Gender Equality Bureau of Cabinet Office, Swedish Institute and Embassy of Sweden jointly hosted a symposium in 2007 under the theme of promotion of work-life balance in order to introduce the Swedish efforts and to discuss and share the experiences and policies of Japan and Sweden towards the realization of a gender-equal society, which had an excellent reputation. This year, we will host a seminar under the theme of prevention and elimination of violence against women, inviting the specialists from Sweden. Please join us as this will be a valuable occasion to know about Swedish efforts to tackle violence against women.
